The Knitting Basket

Here are some pics of a group of girls who attend a knitting class every Saturday at the knitting basket. They were so cute and they were so excited about knitting and learning how to do something new. I was helping a girl knit a doll that she was going to felt after knitting it.

The hats that some of them were knitting were looking better than my first hat: ) I had a good time with them.

The Knitting Basket in Richmond, Virginia hosted my first book signing and trunk show on Saturday, October 25th. Quite a few people came and they were all very supportive and enthusiastic.

These are the owners, Kristin and Ute. They are both very sweet and made me feel very welcome. We all enjoyed the great food that they made (Kristin made an amazing pumpkin dip) for the event.

It was a great day and the book signing went very well.

The Knitting Basket

This Saturday I will be teaching a class and signing books at the Knitting Basket in Richmond.  I already told you about it, but I just thought I’d remind you. I will be teaching the technique for top down construction using magic loop (which I will also be teaching).

I’ll be using my Francis beret pattern. We will be using Nashua Grand Opera as a substitute for Tilli Tomas silk, but it is still a one skein project. This yarn is very warm with little bits of glitter running through it, so it is also very pretty, and comes in a great variety of colors. You can substitute almost any yarn for the Francis beret pattern. The Grand Opera, being wool, will make a great winter hat instead of the silk, which is better for spring.

The class will be 2 hours long starting at 12:00, then there is a meet and greet from 2:00 -3:00. And then at 3:30 I will be signing my book (you should call ahead and have your copy of the book put aside). There is a Starbucks right upstairs so between 3:00 and 3:30 will be a perfect time for me to to go get a coffee and some food. Caramel Macchiato – yum!

Check out the Knitting Basket website to get all of the details.

See you Saturday…

This morning a rather large package was dropped on my front porch by FedEX, and when I opened the box I found a huge poster of…. me.

It’s for my book, It Girl Knits. I will be taking it around to all of the events, book signings, and such. I feel like I have Cushlash (some of you may know this line from Jerry Maguire). or perhaps I should say, I have Besslash. It’s a condition that happens when you see yourself in too many magazines, on too many posters, and in just too many publicity adverts.

Just kidding – I was, however, rather surprised at how big the poster was. I had expected it to be a just a tad smaller. Not that I’m complaining!
